Description:

Q. What is the difference between At Birth and Post Birth to 1 Month?
A. At Birth contains information relevant for newborn babies who have just been born and need immediate support. There is guidance that is specific to this situation and differs to that of a baby who is a few hours old. Notably, defibrillation should not be used as part of newborn life support and the dosage of Adrenaline for Cardiac Arrest 1:10,000 At Birth is higher than for babies who are a few hours old or more and fall into the birth to 1 month group. It was increased from 10mcg/kg to 20mcg/kg in September 2023 as both Resus UK and ILCOR guidelines for Newborn Resuscitation state 20mcg/kg at birth. Following feedback from paramedics, we have added a separate tile to avoid confusion around the higher dose for newborn babies.
